The only rule you should know when it comes to denim is that they are no rules. Denim is fun, it’s casual, yet it can be dressed up. I think most people, including me until recently, are scared to play up with denim… I mean I don’t want to speak too generally but the most common way denim is paired is with black or white jeans. Classic!
While there is nothing wrong with a classic look, I mean it’s a classic for a reason, I think it’s exciting to be bold with denim and mix and match.
I didn’t stray too far from the classic for these looks but I do feel like pairing denim with denim really makes a huge difference.
Lately we’ve had a lot of fall summer days which I’ve taken full advantage to wear my denim shorts a few more times. I love the particular look of wearing the same shade of denim as both top and bottom. I kept the rest of my look simple for a day in the city with brown oxford shoes, sunnies and a brown crossbody bag though you could make it more fun with some cool accessories like a cute colorful bandana scarf or funky shoes. Better yet pair it with a matching denim jacket for a full denim uniform!
For the second look I paired it with darker denims jeans, my brown leather jacket and to throw just a little something in the mix I unbuttoned the shirt to show off a bit of lace. Less casual, more city vibe, I love it.
